Reach Percentages on Timeline
News on Facebook Marketing, according to Inside Facebook, Facebook page owners can now see the percentage of fans that saw a given post and the percentage of those who saw the post as paid advertising thru their timeline, including certain post metrics. This gives page owners an idea on how many fans they have and have not reached.
Facebook reported that pages only get an average of 16% of their fans every week. By showing reach percentages on Timeline, the social network can persuade page owners to consider spending money on Sponsored Stories or Reach Generator, which guarantees that a page reaches at least 75% of fans within a month.
In 2010, Facebook offered other post metrics with a page’s content, displaying percentage on total impressions and feedback for each post.
Feedback was calculated by adding Likes plus comments and dividing by the total number of impressions. Page owners are having difficulty in determining their achievement with posts generating fewer impressions that often had higher feedback percentages.
In late 2011, Facebook changed its post metrics from impressions to total people reached and from feedback to People Talking About This. These counts were only seen from the insights tool when Timeline for pages rolled out in March.
