Internet Advertising saw largest increase on ad spend

News on Social Marketing, according to NielsenWire, according to Nielsen’s quarterly Global AdView Pulse report, spending on advertising is increasing. Compared to last year, TV, newspapers, radio, outdoor, Internet, and cinema increase in ad spend in the beginning of 2012. On the first quarter of 2012, an overall total increase of 3.1% on ad spend was recorded globally. Though TV still leads most advertising, internet sees the largest growths on advertising spend.

Ad spending for TV grew 4% in North America and 7.5% in Latin America while Africa and the Middle East has a 33.8% increase on TV ad spend.

The rise on online ad spend was particularly seen in the Middle East and Africa with a 35.2% growth, 31.8% on Latin America and 12.1% in Europe.

For the print media, ads spend for newspapers increase 3.1% compared to last year, while magazines saw a slight decrease. Latin America has a 7.6% growth in magazines and 10.3% for newspapers while an increase on ad spend was seen in Asia Pacific with 3.6% growth in magazines and 5.4% for newspapers.

Radio grew 18% in Latin America and 21.1% in the Middle East and Africa and 2.8% in Europe.

Cinema grew 27.1% In Asia Pacific while the growing outdoor ad spend grew 6.4% globally.

Study shows 38% of companies create white paper for content marketing

News on Social Marketing, according to Brafton News, with the growth of digital content marketing in 2011, website articles and email newsletters gained more popularity among other content type. This was revealed from a study made by the Custom Content Council and ContentWise. The study shows that among the main motivation for increased content investment was the desire to build brand thought leadership and as a result, white paper marketing was commonly used.

To show influence in their industries, 38% of companies depending on the web for content marketing created white papers. These are usually used to help prospects learn more about a company’s products and their ability to add value.

White paper marketing has consistently grown for the last three years. The study shows that in 2009, 23% of companies surveyed uses white paper marketing, growing to 30% in 2010 before increasing more to 38% in 2011.

With the survey result, it is very possible that by 2012, white paper marketing will soon be created by more organizations.

Needing extensive time investment and in-depth research for white papers, 17% will use third-party agencies to produce their white papers as most organizations using content marketing are aggressively looking to outsource part of their content creation.

Branded news offers relevant content to email subscribers

News on Social Marketing, according to Brafton News, marketers should focus on having fresh email content as this is very critical to attract clicks from subscribers. This was indicated by a recent study from ExactTarget, showing that 70% Americans always open emails from their favorite brands.

Inboxes are considered legitimate way in attracting and reaching online subscribers based on The Social Break Up, a survey conducted by ExactTarget, which shows that 93% Americans receive permission-based emails.

The survey also shows that leading the cause for respondents unsubscribe email are those emails that are too frequent at 54% while 49% unsubscribe due to boredom and repetitive content.

Irrelevant content is one reason of the one quarter of respondents to unsubscribe email. Brands must ensure a fresh and relevant content when planning update content for email marketing campaigns.

Also, in a study by Pew, 12% of Americans open inboxes for the latest news headlines so having branded news content is important for marketers to keep email newsletters fresh and offer relevant content to subscribers.
