social media misconceptions

Social media marketing has been used by various businesses. Large corporations are using it to open a new line of communication with their target audience. It also facilitates the building of a relationship with your peers within the industry.

Most of all, your customers and competitors are surely there. Your past and present customers will expect your presence to be there, as well. So, why should be elsewhere?

But, no matter how beneficial this type of marketing is, it still has its own limitations.

1. A Magic

It is true that social media can help you promote your products and services or raise awareness about your brand.
However, social media cannot really perform the magic that you want it to do. You cannot expect it to miraculously turn your ineffective products into fantastic ones. In real life, it is not possible.

Even if you have the most beautiful social media marketing, you still cannot gain customers if your products are ineffective.

2. A Stand-Alone Marketing

Social media can improve your overall marketing efforts. But it cannot replace public relations and other marketing practices.

Rather, it works along with or as part of your comprehensive marketing plan.

In other words, it only supports your marketing strategy to gain more customers and improve leads and sales.

3. All About Free Marketing

You can place a link of your website from Facebook, for instance. But Facebook has admitted that it is decreasing free traffic percentage to one percent of all traffic. It also holds true with other social media sites.

What does this mean to you as a business owner? It means that if you are planning on using social media to reach out to a wider audience, you will need to have at least a significant amount of advertising budget.

Even if you only allot a small budget, it can create a great return.

4. All The Time an Ideal Method to Boost Sales

Although many companies have found success in selling their products and services on social media, it can’t magically boost sales all the time. Some companies reported to receive traffic from social media, but only a small percentage of them bought their products or used their services.

5. A Push marketing

As mentioned earlier, social media is not an easy tool to improve sales. The problem with social media is that you can easily get reported as a spammer.

That said, if you want to win on social media, you need to pull people towards your brand. People will be attracted to your business through your message and the content that you share on social media.

You also need to be useful to your community and you must be that way on a consistent basis.

6. A Great Tool Without a Plan

Social media marketing sounds easy to do. But you will not find success in it if you do not have a plan.

Marketing your products through social networking sites requires a strategy and your effort must be consistent. You should also track your progress to know which tactics are useful.
