Google’s Hangout Allows Two or More People in a Video Conference

News on Google Marketing, according to Tech Crunch : dealing with video is a very tough space to handle. You will know this through companies like Skype, Airtime and countless others. Having an ultimate experience that supports two or more people in a video conference is no small accomplishment. However, Google’s Hangout, a video conferencing platform launched originally with the Google+ project, has hit the mark. It’s been a success from the perspective of user adoption and also grabbed a partnership for Google with the NFL.

To make the Hangout experience even more enjoyable and easier to use, Google today introduced nicer features, although, nothing “major.” With Hangout, you can now display or hide a new sidebar, which shows you who’s in the room. A notification system is also seen with alerts showing in red, actions in blue and announcements in grey. Also, showing the vast work that developers have made using its API, Hangout apps have also been introduced.

Facebooks Notification Allows Users to See All Contents from a Page

News on Facebook Marketing, according to Inside Facebook : for fans who don’t want to miss any page posts that might not make it into their News Feed because of Facebook’s algorithms, a new feature is being launched by Facebook to help user receive notifications every time a page makes a post. The feature alerts users each time a new update or photo is shared by someone on the list, similar to the “close friends” option. For example, some users might want to be aware of all posts from a news publication, an artist they like or a small business that doesn’t post very often.

“We are currently rolling out the ability for people to receive notifications from specific pages, friends or public figures that they are connected to. This feature will help people keep up with the people and things that they care about most,” Facebook said in a statement.

To sort News Feed rather than being a full stream like Twitter, Facebook is using an algorithm to make the feed more relevant and engaging. However, this sometimes could lead users to overlook posts that they might have wanted to see.

To get a more complete feed from pages they care about, some users have tried using Interest Lists. However, content from a page or person will be even more likely to be seen with notifications which are off by default and settings can be changed at any time.

Marketers Gets More Value in Advertising with Twitter’s Gender Targeting

News on Twitter Marketing, according to Twitter Advertising Blog : for marketers, targeting their Promoted Products campaigns by gender is what they have been hoping for. But since we don’t ask people to share their gender on Twitter, and some people don’t identify themselves by gender anyway, it is a difficult feature for us to arrive at.

However, even with these factors, the value to having more contextual signals, including gender, is very important to us to help messages get to its audience. As marketers don’t want their ads to reach people who aren’t interested in their message, so does audience, dislike mistrgeted ads.

To help us understand our users’ gender reliably, we have been working on using an array of signals. And beginning today, gender targeting will be made available to all marketers as these signals have proven successful in determining gender.

By taking signals that users present on Twitter, such as user profile names or the accounts they follow, we are able to understand gender. This is similar to our approach to interest targeting. A 90% accuracy rate for our global audience has been recorded by our panel of human testers.

Marketers can directly reach a more specific audience, and get more value out of advertising on Twitter with gender targeting and can lead to a better experience for users.
