Google-Drive

“Everything is possible with Google.” I started my first job as a digital marketer and have highly benefited with the creation of Google Drive. As time goes by, it gets even better and better. At Feed140 where most of the staff are working remotely, we create our articles, reports, memos, announcements and many more documents via Google Drive. Collaboration with the team becomes super easy and in real time with the use of Google Drive.

Some of Google Drive’s Features listed by Edteck Junkies

  • Shared folders:  Create shared folders and drag-and-drop items from other folders.
  • Privacy: You can choose to have documents published publicly or privately.
  • Share, don’t email: Instead of emailing docs back and forth, type in email addresses of people you’d like to share your Google document with, and they’ll be sent an editable, web copy.
  • Make changes at the same time: You and your classmates can log into the same document at the same time to make edits.
  • Share a folder: Share entire groups of documents saved in a single file with coworkers and students.
  • Invite mailing lists as collaborators: You can share a document with all members of your email mailing lists with this function.
  • Make a presentation in real-time: Invite others to view a presentation you’ve made as you see it too.
  • Data validation: Make sure everyone is entering data into the spreadsheet the same way by controlling data validation settings.
  • Allow people to edit without signing in: This means anyone, even if they don’t have a Google account, can sign in and edit your piece.
  • Remove collaborators: If you want to take someone off a project, click None next to the name of the person you want to remove.
  • Forum: If you get stuck with a docs problem, you can head over to the forums and find help from other users.
  • Change ownership: Switch ownership of Google docs as project leaders change.

  • Work  ‘Offline mode’

Internet outages and long plane rides shouldn’t prevent you from working in Google Drive. Set up offline access so that the next time you’re offline you’ll still be able to view Google documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and drawings, shuffle folders around, and edit files stored in your Google Drive folder. A guide to set this up can be found here.

  • Add-ons

To make you even more happy, another feature was added to your Google Drive last March. For those who haven’t notice it yet.  See image below add-ons menu

Add-ons basically give Drive more Office-like functionality, such as mail merges and bibliographies, useful features like approval workflows, as well as cool partnerships with tools like MailChimp and Supermetrics reporting. To help you with Add-ons here are some guides:

Note: Add-ons are only available within the latest version of Sheets, which Google launched in December — you’ll need to upgrade before using them.
