Twitter launched Search autocomplete and “People You Follow”

News on Social Marketing, according to Twitter Blog, in addition to Twitter’s recent improvements like related query suggestions, spelling corrections and more relevant search results, we are launching search autocomplete and ‘People you follow’ search results to twitter.com.

Search autocomplete allows you to see the most likely terms for your query, like when looking for a certain Twitter account or following the hashtag for an event. Even before you finish typing it, query may be selected from the drop-down menu.

By entering your search, relevant Tweets, images, articles, videos and accounts, will be available for your query. For a better search experience, we created several other improvements.

For spelling corrections, results for your intended query will automatically show if you misspell a term.

Relevant suggestions will be given when searching for a topic for which people use multiple terms.

Results stating the person’s real name and their Twitter account username will be given once you search for a name.

Results from people you follow: Selecting the ‘People you follow’ view allows you to see Tweets about a given topic from only the people you follow.

ComsScore: Google and Bing lead search queries in June

News on Social Marketing, according to Brafton News, with the continuous growth on search activity, search queries for both Google and Bing reached an all-time high in June. A report from comScore found that Google fielded 11.4 billion searches and 2.7 billion for Bing.

Only desktop search queries are included on the data while mobile search numbers are not available for both search leaders.

Yahoo’s search market continues to decline as they fell by 0.4 percentage points to 13% for the month of June. This is the 10th-straight month that the company lost share, according to comScore.

In recent years, the company struggled with their other services. And with the cancellation of its web analytics platform, Bing is now launching services that are useful for both marketers and users.

A linkdisavowing tool has been rolled out by Bing to help companies own their search presence more effectively. This tool allows websites to remove the negative impact of low-quality sites linking to their pages.

In the future, a similar tool will soon be rolled out by Google. For now, organizations can maximize the impact of organic search marketing with the advancements of Google’s web analytic tools.
