Facebook’s new capabilities to attract more audiences

News on Social Marketing, according to Brafton News, eMarketer revealed that Facebook is being used by 83 percent of American companies as part of their social media marketing strategy. So it is important for the company to change and integrate new features as more organizations gain experience with it. In 2012, Facebook has been focusing more on the promotion of organic site content shared on the platform from the usual display ads, changing its various paid marketing efforts.

These changes have been featured in the Top 10 Facebook Marketing Changes of 2012 where marketers can now emphasize detailed pieces of content their audiences will likely find most attractive. Facebook has now focused to a unified strategy that requires high-quality original content instead of the separation of paid and organic marketing, may it be Sponsored Stories or Scheduled Posts.

Integrating Sponsored Stories, Scheduled Posts or Unpublished Posts into a social strategy helps in making social marketing more visible to fans and prospects. An increased click rate of more than 20 percent of its clients’ social content was reported by Marin Software with Sponsored Stories.

Timeline page layout is another new element of Facebook. According to a study, videos, infographics, photos and others saw as much as 65 percent more engagement making it a key social traffic driver.

Google promotes Nexus 7 tablet on its home-page

News on Social Marketing, according to CNET News, in its desire to make a bigger impact on the growing tablet market dominated by Apple’s iPad, Google is actively promoting one of its own products on its home page today. Traditionally resisting attempts to run advertisements for paid products on its main page, Google’s $199 tablet, Nexus 7, started popping up on its home page where only the top part peeks out in a tease, along with a link to the 8GB version in its Google Play store.

Built by Asus, Nexus 7 is the first tablet developed under Google and run Google’s latest mobile operating system, Android 4.1 or Jelly Bean.

In late 2009, the original Droid from Motorola and Verizon Wireless were the first products to be promoted on Google’s home page, in a rare occasion.

The Nexus 7 is already available in several other countries, including the U.S. and the U.K. However, Google expanded its availability by launching the tablet in Germany, France, and Spain.

Google hopes to exceed the success of Amazons $199 Kindle Fire last year with its own product. However, competition will be strong as Apple is expected to soon unveil its own iPad Mini and the next iteration of the Kindle Fire is expected to be announced next week.
