LinkedIn Board Connect to help Nonprofit Leaders Find Professionals to Join their Board

News on LinkIn Marketing, according to Mashable Business : to connect non-profits with potential board members, the professional social network LinkedIn introduced a new tool, the Board Connect. This new tool is considered an important function as it helps nonprofit leaders find high quality professionals to join their boards.

LinkedIn Board Connect allows free access to Talent Finder, an educational webcast and an invitation to join the Board Connect group.

Meg Garlinghouse, head of employment brand and community for LinkedIn, told Mashable that, “Board Connect takes advantage of connecting talent with opportunity and ties in social impact.”

“There’s a huge supply and demand issue we’re trying to solve. More than 2 million non-profit board seats need to be filled each year and non-profit leaders are challenged with finding the right individuals to join those boards,” she added.

Garlinghouse said that most professionals show their interest in joining non-profit boards in their LinkedIn profiles and that these data should be used in looking for a potential member.

A study by Taproot Foundation found that about 87% of human resources professionals and 92% of marketing professionals are interested in board service but far fewer actually serve on boards.

According to Garlinghouse, “Board Connect is taking advantage of what our core assets are and pivoting them toward social impact. This isn’t just helpful to non-profit leaders, it’s helpful towards professionals.”

Board Connect hopes to help nonprofit leaders find professionals with the right skills, experience and social capital and help them be successful.
